Moving Out

It's been way too long since I posted last. Don't worry, I have a great excuse: I'm moving to San Diego.

Packing is my Kryptonite. I start to get light headed and count the minutes until I can work out again and end the pain.

This may come as old news to some, but for me it's still sinking in. Since moving to Portland (Gresham) at age 3, I have yet to live anywhere else. I even went to college here.

I have joined The Triathlon Squad, a group of young professional triathletes, like myself, who are chasing their dreams of being Olympians and playing sports for a living. I am incredibly excited about the training environment and the attitude of everyone in the group. I expect great things for the coming years :)

As my time in PDX rapidly dwindles, I find myself getting very nostalgic. I'm doing lots of "last things". Last run in Forest Park, last ride in the Gorge, last time hanging out with buddies I've known since swim team pre-Y2k.

I have to pause and realize this isn't the END end. I've bought an air mattress (self-inflating $27.99) and will be surfing it around the country/world from now on. Depending on training cycle and racing schedule, it may bring me back to the great Northwest much sooner than I currently anticipate. My first race is March 9, and from then on, my roomates and I may be racing enough that the base in San Diego doesn't make sense. The cool (and scary at times) part is that it's not a big deal. Things have a way of working themselves out. I know what I need to accomplish and nothing is going to get in my way. The air mattress might make a trip to Rio yet.
